
(RTTNews) - Thursday, Ireland's Central Statistics Office announced that the consumer price index or CPI dropped 3.2% year-on-year in February, compared to the 3.9% fall in the previous month. A year ago, the CPI was down 1.7%.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices fell 8% on an annual basis in February, while clothing and footwear prices slipped 11.4%. Transport charges were up 3.9%.
On a monthly basis, the CPI was up 0.4% in February, after falling 0.6% in December.
The harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP fell 2.4% on annual basis in February, same as in the previous month. Month-on-month, the HICP rose 0.2% in February, compared to the 0.7% fall in the previous month.
