(RTTNews) - Japanese all industry activity dropped for the second month in a row in March, data from the Ministry of Trade, Economy and Industry showed Monday. The decline in March was 0.8%, smaller than the 2.3% monthly fall seen in February. Consensus forecast was for 0.7% decrease.
Within the four sub-sectors, constructionand tertiary industry activities fell from the previous month. The construction industry activity index slipped 3.8% after increasing for two consecutive months. At the same time, tertiary industry activity was down 3%, larger than February's 0.3% fall.
Meanwhile, industrial production rose 1.2% in March, following a 0.6% drop in February. The index of government services moved up 0.6% versus last month's 0.9% drop.
Year-on-year, all industry activity grew at a faster pace of 4.7% in March, following 4.1% growth in the previous month.
