(RTTNews) - U.K.'s M4, a broad measure of money supply, grew just GBP 0.6 billion on a monthly basis in April, data released by the Bank of England showed Friday.
The monthly change in M4 was flat in April compared to a 0.1% rise in the previous month. Economists had forecast a 0.3% increase.
M4 rose 3.3% year-on-year in April, slightly slower than 3.5% in March. Economists had expected the 12-month change to rise to 3.8% in April.
M4 lending dropped GBP 9.9 billion in April after March's GBP 8.1 billion growth. The monthly change showed a decline of 0.4%, while there was 4.3% growth over the past 12 months.
Excluding the effects of securitisations, M4 lending declined GBP 9.5 billion in April after an 8% growth in March. On a monthly basis, there was a 0.4% fall, while the measure increased 2.8% annually, slower than 3.2% in the previous month.
