NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. said Thursday its second-quarter net income climbed by 91% to $7.56 billion, or $1.60 a share, from $3.95 billion, or 81 cents a share, in the year-ago period. The Irving, Texas energy giant's revenue rose to $92.5 billion, from $74.5 billion. Wall Street analysts expected earnings of $1.46 a share and revenue of $96.9 billion, according to a survey by FactSet Research. Exxon said it benefitted from higher crude oil prices, improved refining margins and better results in its chemicals business.
