Japanese July Eco Watchers Current Conditions Improve; Outlook Weakens

(RTTNews) - Japan's current conditions improved more than expected in July after easing for two consecutive months, the survey data released by the Cabinet Office showed Monday. The current conditions index rose to 49.8 in July from 47.5 in June. The expected reading was 48.

Eco watchers' outlook index, meanwhile, dropped for a third month, suggesting deterioration in economic conditions in the near future. The index came in at 46.6, down from June's 48.3. Economists had expected the index to rise to 48.8.

Data released by the Cabinet Office on August 6 showed that the leading index climbed to 98.9 in June, after falling for two consecutive months. And the coincident index rose slightly to 101.3.
