U.K House Prices Increase In October: DCLG
(RTTNews) - The U.K. house prices grew 5.5% year-on-year in October compared to 6.1% increase in September, the Department of Communities and Local Government said Tuesday.
Month-on-month, however, house prices fell 0.1% after adjusting to seasonal variations. This followed a 0.8% decrease in the previous month. The mix-adjusted average house price in the UK was GBP 209,466 in October.
In the quarter ended October, the average seasonally adjusted house prices were 0.2% lower than in the previous quarter. This followed a quarterly increase of 0.5% in the July quarter.
Average prices increased 5.9% annually in England and 9.1% in Wales. In Scotland, prices were 0.4% higher than last year and in Northern Ireland, prices fell 8.9%.
Prices paid by first time buyers were 3.4% higher on average than a year earlier and prices paid by former owner occupiers increased 6.3%. Prices of new properties grew 4.4% annually while prices of pre-owned dwellings increased 5.6%.
