The seasonally adjusted HSBC Purchasing Managers' Index for the manufacturing sector fell to 56.7 from 58.4 in November. The rate of growth slowed in December, but it remained above the long-run series average.
"Notwithstanding the deceleration from last month, these numbers are testament to the strong momentum in the manufacturing sector," Leif Eskesen, Chief Economist for India & ASEAN at HSBC said.
