(RTTNews) - Irish service sector activity declined at the fastest pace in 11 months in December as poor weather conditions hit businesses, new survey data showed on Wednesday. The Markit-NCB services purchasing managers' index fell to a seasonally adjusted 47.4 from 50.8 in November. A reading above 50 indicates expansion while one below suggests contraction.
Irish service providers blamed the fall on the freezing weather conditions during the month, which triggered the fourth successive month of decline in new incoming business.Staffing levels in the Irish service sector were cut for the 34th consecutive month in December and at faster pace than in the previous month.
