Japanese Nov Leading Index Rises More Than Expected

(RTTNews) - Japan's leading index rose to 101 in November from 97.7 in October, preliminary data from the Cabinet Office showed Tuesday. Economists were expecting the reading to rise to 100.9.

At the same time, the coincident index came in at 102.1, up from 100.7 in the previous month. However, the index stayed slightly below the expected reading of 102.2.

Meanwhile, the lagging index fell to 87.3 in November from 88.7 last month.

The Cabinet Office sees the Japanese economy to expand 1.5% in the year starting April 2011, down from 3.1% in 2010. The economy grew a better-than-expected 1.1% on a quarterly basis between July and September 2010.
