Confidence indicator for the manufacturing industry dropped to minus 17 in December from minus 10.6 in the previous month. The sharp deterioration was mainly led by the strong negative sentiment on global demand and slight deterioration of the production perspectives.

(RTTNews) - Portugal's economic sentiment deteriorated in December, with diminishing confidence levels in all sub-sectors, survey data from Statistics Portugal said Wednesday.

The indicator measuring confidence in Portugal's construction sector fell to minus 45.3 from minus 44.9. The latest score was the lowest since April 2003, the statistical office said.
Sentiment among retailers as well as service providers also worsened. The measure of retail sector confidence decreased to minus 11.7 from minus 8.9, while that of services dipped to minus 10.5 from minus 9.6.
