U.S. leading economic indicators rise 0.3% for June

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch)
Economic activity should slowly expand in coming months, the Conference Board said Thursday as it reported that its index of leading economic indicators grew 0.3% in June, matching estimates from economists polled by MarketWatch.
"The strengths among the leading indicators have been balanced with the weaknesses in recent months," a Conference Board economist said in a statement.
Among the 10 indicators that make up the LEI, five made positive contributions in June, led by the real money supply.
The largest negative contribution came from stock prices.
In May, the LEI rose 0.8%.
The LEI is a weighted gauge of 10 indicators that are designed to signal business cycle peaks and troughs.
