NEW YORK (MarketWatch)
McDonald's Corp. said on Friday that its third-quarter profit rose 9% to $1.51 billion, or $1.45 a share, compared to $1.39 billion, or $1.29 a share a year ago.
Total revenues rose 14% to $7.17 billion, compared to $6.30 billion a year ago.
Analysts polled by FactSet Research had expected the company to earn $1.43 a share, on revenue of $7.02 billion.
The firm also said global same-store sales rose 5%, with the U.S. up 4.4%, Europe up 4.9% and Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa up 3.4%, in the third quarter.
