SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)
Mexican equities edged higher Friday in light trading, with the benchmark index headed for a second-straight session of gains but still poised for a year-on-year loss of around 3%.
Mexico's IPC was last up 0.5% at 37,356, down 3.1% year to date.
Chile's IPSA equity index tacked on 0.1% to 4,178, trading over 15% lower year to date.
Brazil's stock market was closed Friday.
Brazil's benchmark Ibovespa +0.39% ended trading on Thursday with a year-on-year loss of 18%. Trading in Argentina was also shut, with Argentina's Merval +1.51% suffering a 30% loss for the year.
