U.S. stocks rise, Nasdaq lags, amid Europe reports
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)
U.S. stocks closedly moderately higher Wednesday, again rolled by a late-session report relating to a possible Europe rescue that sent stocks to session highs before gains defused in the final minutes.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 46.24 points, or 0.4%, to 12,196.37, led by a 2.3% gain in J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
In the final hour of trading, the Dow had risen more than 100 points after the Nikkei newspaper reported on its website the G-20 group of nations was considering a lending facility at the International Monetary Fund to help with Europe's rescue.
CNBC said the IMF denied the report; a message left with the IMF wasn't been immediately returned.
The S&P 500 rose 2.54 points, or 0.2%, to 1,261.01.
The Nasdaq Composite edged back 0.4 point, or 0.01%, to 2,649.21

Considero el cierre de Wall Street Neutral, no por nada, sino por la tromba de papel que ha salido en los minutos finales. Seguimos fuera de mercado, ni comptrados ni vendidos .... esperando tendencia.
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The Group of 20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors is planning a $600 billion fund for the International Monetary Fund to deal with the European debt crisis, according to Nikkei.com in a Thursday-dated online report. According to Nikkei, key G-20 members such as Japan, the U.S. and China will contribute to the fund. U.S. markets surged on the headlines, but some of the steam was lost after a CNBC report that the IMF was denying the story. A message for the IMF to comment was not immediately returned. The Dow Jones Industrial Average /quotes/zigman/627449/delayed DJIA +0.38% spiked to 12,257.67 on the report in the final hour of trading and closed up 0.4% at 12,196.37.
