U.S. stocks rallied Tuesday, boosted by financial stocks and natural-resource firms after a hiatus in negative headlines from Europe supported the euro , a bullish industry forecast from aluminum producer Alcoa Inc. , and China trade data that pointed to more easing ahead.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 69.78 points, or 0.6%, to 12,462.47, led by a 5.7% gain in Bank of America Corp. shares.
The S&P 500 rose 11.38 points, or 0.9%, to 1,292.08.
The Nasdaq Composite added 25.94 points, or 1%, to 2,702.5
