MADRID (MarketWatch)
International Consolidated Airlines Group PLC on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit more than tripled, but the group warned of a tough current first half
Profit after tax jumped to €217 million ($292 million) against €62 million in the year-ago period, while total revenue nearly doubled to €4.08 billion
Passenger revenue rose to €3.4 billion against €2.28 billion in the year-ago period
IAG said fuel costs rose by a third
The group said it sees weaker operating results in the first half of the year versus the prior year, due to higher fuel costs, weaker European markets and labor unrest
"We expect the year-over-year cost pressures to reduce as we move through the second half of the year," said the owner of British Airways and Iberia
