Dow's seven-month winning streak is longest since 2007
NEW YORK (MarketWatch)
U.S. stocks on Monday pulled mostly lower for April, but the Dow industrials managed to score a 0.01% monthly gain to extend its run into a seventh month, its longest such stretch since Jan. 31, 2007
The benchmark indexes all fell on the day as a weak reading of business activity in Chicago prompted concern about the economy
"We did not get off to a good start with the weak Chicago PMI number," said David Rolfe, chief investment officer of Wedgewood Partners
The Dow fell 14.68 points, or 0.1%, to end at 13,213.63
The S&P 500 Index fell 5.45 points, or 0.4%, to 1,397.91, down 0.8% for April after four consecutive months of gains
The Nasdaq Composite retreated 22.84 points, or 0.7%, to 3,046.36, down 0.8% for April, its first monthly loss in four
