Thursday reported a fiscal third-quarter profit of $5.11 billion, or 60 cents a
share, on $17.41 billion in revenue
During the same period a year ago,
Microsoft earned $5.23 billion, or 61 cents a share, on sales of $16.4 billion
Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research had forecast the world's largest software
company to earn 58 cents a share on $17.16 billion in revenue
