Japan's economy grew 1.0% during the January-March
quarter, or 4.1% on an annualized basis, official data showed Thursday, with the
results beating expectations for a 3.5% annualized gain, according to separate
Dow Jones Newswires and Reuters surveys
In October-December, growth was flat
quarter-on-quarter
In a weak spot, however, private non-residential investment
fell 3.9% quarter-on-quarter
