U.S. stocks made a late-day reversal Thursday as traders ran with the latest headlines from Europe, including comments from Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti that he expected Greece to stay in the euro zone
The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended up 33.60 points, or 0.3%, at 12,529.75, led by Hewlett-Packard Co.
The S&P 500 rose 1.82 point, or 0.1%, to 1,320.68
The Nasdaq Composite dropped 10.74 points, or 0.4%, to 2,839.38
Tech stocks, outside H-P, were the hardest hit after recent earnings reports fostered concerns about corporate IT spending
