U.S. stocks finished the month with sizeable losses, with all three indexes off 6% or more during May "People may be expecting a bit weaker number than they would have hoped for 24 hours ago," Lawrence Creatura, portfolio manager at Federated Investors, of Friday's monthly payrolls data, and the lowered expectations following a disappointing ADP report on Thursday
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 26.41 points, or 0.2%, to 12,393.45, off 6.2% for May
The S&P 500 Index fell 2.99 points, or 0.2%, to 1,310.33, leaving it down 6.3% for the month
The Nasdaq Composite fell 10.02 points, or 0.4%, to 2,827.34, down 7.2% for the month
May proved the worst in two years for the Dow and Nasdaq
