The volume of retail sales in the 17-nation euro
zone fell by 1% in April, the European Union statistics agency, Eurostat,
reported Tuesday
Compared to the same month last year, sales fell by 2.5%
Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had forecast a monthly decline of
0.2% and a 1.1% year-on-year fall
