United Nations monitors have suspended patrols and
activities in Sryia, citing escalating violence, according to published reports
"Operations will resume when we see the situation fit for us to carry out our
mandated activities, Maj. Gen. Robert Mood, said in a statement issued Saturday
The bloodshed has risen during the past 10 days, heightening the risk for the
roughly 300 U.N. observers in the country, Mood said
