Ferrovial gets £2B U.K. infrastructure contract

Spanish construction company Ferrovial SA said Wednesday it obtained a 25-year contract worth 2 billion pounds ($3.14 billion) to improve and maintain transportation infrastructure in Sheffield, northern England, via its British subsidiary Amey
The contract includes refurbishing roads and sidewalks, installing new traffic lights and strengthening bridges for the city council
The bulk of the work, which begins this month, will take place during the first five years of the contract
Maintenance will be the focus later on
This is the second contract of its type that Ferrovial has obtained in the U.K. The company was named preferred bidder in April
