Roughly $470 million in unspent funds will be released to help states pay for transportation projects, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said Friday
The funds had previously been set aside for "earmark" projects that hadn't gotten off the ground
"We are freeing up these funds so states can get down to the business of moving transportation projects forward and putting our friends and neighbors back to work," LaHood said
