Barclays on Wednesday said it was being probed in two new U.S. regulatory investigations

LONDON (MarketWatch)
U.K. bank Barclays PLC  on Wednesday said it was being probed in two new U.S. regulatory investigations
The bank released the news as part of its third-quarter-earnings statement
The bank said the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating whether the group's relationship with third parties who help Barclays win or retain business are compliant with U.S. corruption laws
In addition, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is investigating if Barclays manipulated power prices in some parts of the U.S. from late 2006 until 2008
The bank said in the earnings release that an Order of Notice could be issued as early as Wednesday, but that it intends to "vigorously defend this matter."
