Blue-chips, Nasdaq end lower, post losses on month

Blue-chip stocks closed with a loss Wednesday, as losses in shares of Facebook and Apple Inc. helped pull the Nasdaq Composite lower

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 10.75 points, or 0.1%, to 13,096.46, down 2.5% for the month

The S&P 500 closed at 1,412.16, up 0.2 point, with technology stocks among the biggest sector decliners
The index fell 2% for the month
The Nasdaq Composite declined 10.72 points, or 0.4%, to 2,977.23, down 4.5% for October
