Verizon Communications Inc.the New York
telecom group, reported that third-quarter net income rose 16%, with adjusted
profit meeting analysts' expectations, on 3.9% higher revenue
Earnings reached
$1.59 billion, or 56 cents a share, from $1.38 billion, or 49 cents, in the
year-earlier
quarter
Adjusted profit rose to 64 cents a share from 56 cents
Revenue totaled $29.01 billion compared with $27.91 billion.
A survey of
analysts by FactSet Research produced consensus estimates of profit of 64 cents
a share on revenue of $29.01 billion.
