U.S. stocks end 1% higher on upbeat data


SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)
U.S. stocks rose on Thursday after a string of positive U.S. reports provided some optimism that the economic recovery is still underway
The S&P 500 Index rose 15 points, or 1.1%, to 1,428
The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 136 points, or 1%, to 13,233
The Nasdaq Composite added 43 points, or 1.4%, to 3,020.
