PC sales fall again in second quarter

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)
Global sales of PCs saw another double-digit decline in the second quarter, though the drop was not as big as the record-setting slide in the prior period
Data from IDC released showed that global PC sales fell 11.4% compared to last year's second quarter, which was largely in line with the 11.7% drop the firm had previously forecast
Gartner, another research firm, said global PC shipments fell by 10.9%
The firm noted that it was the fifth consecutive quarter of declining shipments - marking the longest-running slump in the sector's history
Among PC makers, Lenovo took the global top spot from Hewlett-Packard with 16.7% share compared to 16.4% for H-P
Dell's market share edged up to 12.2% from 11.3%
