Global sales of PCs saw
another double-digit decline in the second quarter, though the drop was not as
big as the record-setting slide in the prior period
Data from IDC released
showed that global PC sales fell 11.4% compared to last
year's second quarter, which was largely in line with the 11.7% drop the firm
had previously forecast
Gartner, another research firm, said global PC
shipments fell by 10.9%
The firm noted that it was the fifth consecutive
quarter of declining shipments - marking the longest-running slump in the
sector's history
Among PC makers, Lenovo took the global top spot from Hewlett-Packard
with 16.7% share compared to
16.4% for H-P
Dell's market share edged up to 12.2%
from 11.3%
