PC growth also slowing in emerging markets: IDC

The personal computer market is facing slower growth even in emerging markets, where tablets are also starting to hurt PC sales, IDC said
Sluggish PC sales in the U.S. and Europe had recently been offset by strong demand in the emerging markets, led by China and India
But IDC said "Aside from stubbornly depressed consumer interest, 2013 also marks the first year where emerging regions are expected to contract at a steeper rate than mature regions," the report said
Without an adequate mass of compelling applications, the PC market is poised to subsist primarily on lukewarm replacements in the future
PC shipments are expected to fall about 10% year-over-year this year.
