(RTTNews) - Eurozone's leading economic indicator climbed 0.9% in April compared to March, the Conference Board said on Thursday. The index rose to 110.4 from 109.4. This index had risen 1.2% in the previous month.
"The [leading index] points to a continuing, though still weak, recovery for the euro area," said Jean-Claude Manini, Conference Board senior economist for Europe. "Even with the recent volatility in European financial markets, post-recession rebound effects still dominate the recovery process. The [leading index] has returned to a solidly upward trend, suggesting a moderate pick-up in economic activity in the second-half of the year."
Meanwhile, the coincident index was unchanged compared to the previous month in April. The index stood at 102.0.
