(RTTNews) - The average asking price for a house in the United Kingdom was down 1.7 percent in August compared to the previous month, property Web site Rightmove said on Monday. That followed a 0.6 percent decline in July. Leading the index lower, house prices in the West Midlands declined 4.4 percent, while prices in London were down 4.1 percent.On an annual basis, house prices rose 4.3 percent after collecting 3.7 percent in the previous month.The average stock per agent increased for the sixth consecutive month, the data showed, while the total number of properties added to the Rightmove Web site surged an annual 41 percent.
