Austria's Manufacturing PMI Rises To 57.7 In December
(RTTNews) - Austria's manufacturing sector expanded for thirteenth consecutive month in December, with the pace strongest since July.
Survey data released by Markit Economics showed Thursday that the seasonally adjusted Bank Austria manufacturing purchasing managers' index, or PMI, rose to 57.7 from 55.2 in November. A PMI reading above 50 indicates expansion in the sector.
Manufacturing output growth accelerated as production increased substantially in November. New orders rose at a considerable pace that was much faster than that seen in the previous month. Substantial new order growth led to a further build-up of backlogs of work in the month.
Manufacturing employment marked the second fastest growth since September 2006. Input price inflation quickened to the steepest in seven months. Consequently, the rate of charge inflation was the fastest in the series history.
