Of the four components of the consumer confidence indicator, expectations concerning Finland's economy and the development of unemployment weakened sharply in December from the previous month, the statistical agency said.

The consumer confidence indicator fell to 13.5 in December from 20.8 in November, the survey conducted among 1,380 households between December 1 and 16 revealed.
Of the four components of the consumer confidence indicator, expectations concerning Finland's economy and the development of unemployment weakened sharply in December from the previous month, the statistical agency said.
By contrast, consumers' views about their own economy and saving possibilities remained more or less unchanged. In December, consumers regarded the time less favorable for raising a loan and especially for purchasing durable goods.
In the month, only 32% of consumers believed that Finland's economic situation would improve during the next 12 months, while 26% of them thought the economy would deteriorate.
Consumers predicted in December that consumer prices would go up by 3% in the next one year. That compares with 1.9% they predicted a year ago.
