Finnish Nov. Inflation Accelerates
(RTTNews) - Finnish annual consumer price inflation accelerated in November, the Statistics Finland said on Tuesday.
The consumer price index rose to 2.5% annually in November from 2.3% in the previous month. The price growth was mainly driven by increases in telephone call charges and strong fluctuations in air travel prices. Economists were looking for an increase of 2.3%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.2% in November, following a 0.4% rise in October. This was mainly due to increases in vegetable prices.
Inflation was also influenced by higher prices of owner-occupied dwellings and real estate, liquid fuels, food, non-alcoholic beverages and electricity, the statistical office said.
On the other hand, inflation was curbed most by fallen interest rates and lowered prices of restaurant and cafe meals from the previous year.
Inflation, as measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, was 2.4% in November, compared to 2.3% in October. The HICP was up 0.2% compared to the preceding month.
