Italian Current Account Deficit Narrows In October
(RTTNews) - Italy's current account deficit shrank to 2.58 billion euros in October from 3.09 billion euros in the same month a year ago, data from Bank of Italy showed Friday.
The goods account deficit, however, rose to 428 million euros from 338 million euros a year earlier. Meanwhile, the deficit on services account dropped to 271 million euros from 889 million euros last year.
The income account deficit also narrowed with the shortfall shrinking to 467 million euros from 1.5 billion euros, while the deficit on current transfer account increased to 1.4 billion euros from 362 million euros.
The capital account balance was in a surplus of 176 million euros compared to 279 million euros last year. During October, the financial account posted a deficit of 4.8 billion euros compared to a surplus of 6.1 billion euros last year.
