Czech Inflation Accelerates More Than Forecast In December

(RTTNews) - Inflation in Czech Republic accelerated in December after remaining steady in the previous two months, figures released by the Czech Statistical Office showed Monday.
Inflation rose to 2.3% in December from 2% in November. Economists had forecast inflation to rise to 2.2%.
The strongest price growth was recorded in transportation segment with the prices of automotive fuels climbing 16.6% annually, much faster than the 10.8% increase in November.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 5.6% year-on-year, the fastest pace since January 2008, the statistical office said. This also contributed to overall price growth.

Prices of clothing and footwear prices, on the other hand, were 3.8% lower than a year earlier. On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.5%, more than the 0.4% forecast by economists. In November, prices grew 0.2% month-on-month.
