(RTTNews) - Romania's inflation rose slightly to 7.96% in December from 7.73% in November, the National Institute of Statistics said Friday.
During the month, food prices grew 6.45% year-on-year while non-food prices climbed 9.76%. Service charges were up 6.43% from a year earlier.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose 0.53% in December compared to 0.52% rise in November.
Food prices were up 0.76% compared to November. Non-food costs rose 0.55% and services charges increased 0.04% on a monthly basis.
The CPI, excluding fuels, advanced 0.33% month-on-month and the index, setting aside price changes in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, rose 0.57%.
Last week, the central bank decided to keep its key policy rate steady at 6.25%. The bank has kept the policy rate at the current level since May last year.
