LONDON (MarketWatch)
General Electric said Friday its third-quarter net profit attributable to the company rose to $3.22 billion from $2.06 billion in the same period a year ago.
Net earnings per share rose to 22 cents from 18 cents.
Operating earnings excluding the effects of the preferred stock redemption rose to 31 cents from 28 cents.
Revenue was virtually flat $35.37 billion.
Analysts polled by FactSet Research expected earnings of 31 cents a share on revenue of $34.84 billion. GE's industrial orders grew 16% year-on-year, posting the fourth straight quarter of double-digit growth.
