Verizon swings to loss on pension costs

Verizon Communications Inc. on Tuesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $212 million, or 71 cents a share, vs. a profit of $4.65 billion, or 93 cents a share, a year ago
Excluding one-time items, the company earned 52 cents a share
Revenue rose to $28.44 billion from $26.39 billion, a year earlier
Analysts polled by FactSet Research were looking for a profit, on average, of 53 cents a share with sales of $28.38 billion
