Socialist challenger Francois Hollande and French
President Nicolas Sarkozy led first round voting as French polls closed in the
initial leg of the country's presidential election on Sunday. Hollande held
28.4% of the vote, while Sarkozy held 25.5%, French television news channels
reported
The pair are expected to face each other in a head-to-head runoff on
May 6
Far-right candidate Marine Le Pen holds 20%, while support for the far
left's Jean-Luc Melenchon was seen at around 12%, reports said
