U.S. stocks end higher, extending their slight gains into a fourth day; Dow's up 7 points

U.S. stocks held steady Wednesday, with investors hesitant to make large moves after an extended winning run
"We've had a pretty strong market rally for simply going from bad to less bad," said Bruce McCain, chief investment strategist at Key Private Bank, who cited nervousness about Europe as an underlying factor in the market's cautious tone
Gaining for a third day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 7.04 points to 13,175.64
The S&P 500 edged nearly 1 point higher to 1,402.22
The Nasdaq Composite fell 4.61 points, or 0.2%, to 3,011.25
