Business sentiment deteriorated at large Japanese
manufacturers amid a persistently firm yen and weakened Chinese economic growth,
the Bank of Japan's quarterly Tankan survey showed Monday
The so-called
diffusion index for large manufacturers came in at minus three in the September
survey, compared to a minus one reading in June
The closely-watched survey also
showed large manufacturers expect business conditions to remain as bad, with the
index for December also forecast at minus 3
A negative index shows there were
more pessimists than optimists among those surveyed. Meanwhile, the survey
showed the headline index for large non-manufacturers remained steady at plus 8
