AN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)
U.S. stocks closed mostly higher Monday, buoyed by better-than-expected data on U.S. manufacturing as traders digested Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's comments on monetary policy, but the Nasdaq Composite finished lower as shares of Apple Inc. fell 1.2%
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 77.91 points, or 0.6%, at 13,515.04
It touched a high of 13,598.25 during the session
The S&P 500 added 3.81 points, or 0.3%, to stand at 1,444.48 while the Nasdaq Composite shed 2.70 points, or 0.1%, to 3,113.53
"I don't see a lot of conviction or breadth," said Matthew Tuttle, chief investment officer at Tuttle Wealth Management LLC
"I would be a little concerned about tomorrow barring any new good news out of somewhere before we open."
