Dow finishes down 89 points; Nasdaq six-session winning streak snapped

U.S. stocks finished lower on Tuesday after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said little progress has been made in talks aimed at averting the so-called fiscal cliff
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 89.24 points, or 0.7%, to end at 12,878.13, with Hewlett-Packard Co. the top decliner in the blue-chip index
The S&P 500 index slipped 7.35 points, or 0.5%, to finish at 1,398.94
The Nasdaq Composite snapped a six-session winning streak, dropping 8.99 points, or 0.3%, to end at 2,967.79
