Mexico retail sales up 36.5% on 'Buen Fin' weekend

Mexican retail association Antad said Monday that sales at its member establishments increased 36.5% on the year during Mexico's Black Friday-style holiday shopping weekend, while same-store sales increased by 30%
Antad said in a statement that Mexico's 'El Buen Fin' promotions, held Nov. 16-19, brought in sales of 25.5 billion pesos ($1.96 billion)
The data includes input from retailers accounting for 84% of Antad members' floor space; Antad represents more than 30,000 stores
This year marked the second year of a national effort to offer discounts over the three-day weekend in November.
In 2011, sales jumped 77% on the year due to Buen Fin offers
Mexicans especially took advantage of the sales this month to acquire electronics, kitchen appliances and linens
