U.S. flash PMI edges up in August

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch)
The flash manufacturing purchasing managers index edged up to a reading of 53.9 in August from 53.7 in July, Markit said Thursday
The flash index, which is based on approximately 85% of usual monthly replies, suggested a moderate expansion of the manufacturing sector and rose to the highest level in five months
Any reading over 50 indicates expansion
